Please feel free to stop in during business hours to get your flu shot.  Most insurance companies pay for the flu vaccination as a preventative benefit. 

Does your child or teen need the flu vaccine this year?

Experts say, everyone over 6 months of age needs seasonal flu vaccine as soon as possible.  It’s more important that ever before to take care of yourself and your immune system.  Often the viruses that cause colds or other mild respiratory infection, just need to run their course.  In some severe cases of the flu, particularly in high risk patients, it is best to seek medical attention.

Our clinic is open to patients from 9am til 4pm … BOTH Saturdays and Sundays!

We are available to diagnose illness and treat injury for everyone – young and old alike.  We welcome new patients!

Q: How do I know if my child has the flu or just a cold?

Q: I believe my child has the flu.  How do I know if I should bring him/her in to see the Doctor?

A: You should bring your child in to be seen if he/she meets any of the following criteria:

1. Fever in ANY child ≤ 3 months old.
2. Any fever of 104°F or higher.
3. Any persistent fever > 100°F lasting more than 2 days.
4. Any fever accompanied by inability to take adequate liquids, listlessness, vomiting or diarrhea.

Q: If we do visit the clinic and it is the flu, how should it be treated?

A: If you come in to the clinic within 48 hours of symptom onset and are in a high risk category, you may be given the medication, Tamiflu®, which should help shorten the duration of your illness.

Q: How do I know if I am in a high risk category?

A: High risk categories include:  pregnancy, children under 5 yrs, elderly over 65 yrs and those with chronic medical problems.

Q: I’ve heard the flu can lead to other more serious complications.  Is this true?

A: Yes, that is the reason for prompt treatment if severe symptoms exist.  Influenza can weaken the body’s immune system and lead to bronchitis, pneumonia, croup and other serious illness.

During this flu season, it is especially important to recognize flu symptoms early and treat them accordingly.
